News

KUALA LUMPUR: Final preparations are currently being made for the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agrotourism (2022 MAHA) expo, which will run from Aug 4-14 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), near here.

Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Datuk Sri Dr Ronald Kiandee said the mega event is making a return after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said he was satisfied with MAHA’s groundwork and preparations, which was presented during a media tour at MAEPS today.

“The organisers and entrepreneurs are working hard to make last minute touch-ups to ensure that the 2022 MAHA provides great content for the guests.

“About 1,500 exhibition booths will be set up for the people. Industry players in the agriculture sector will be able to promote their products,” he said.

Kiandee said preparations are expected to be fully completed three days before the opening of the event.

“Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will attend the launch ceremony on Aug 6. The expo will be held until Aug 14.

“The level of participations by industry players and entrepreneurs have been encouraging and we hope the 2022 MAHA will attract more visitors as compared to previous events,” Kiandee said.

Earlier, he took part in a media tour to look at multiple checkpoints for the 2022 MAHA.

He said he was happy with the progress of the expo’s preparations, and praised the organisers’ efforts during the tour despite heavy rain which occurred for a short spell this morning.

The tour today included visits to the vegetable and herb gardens, pineapple farm, padi field and a mechanical exhibit section showcasing various agricultural technology.
